SharePoint Search Errror – Search Host Controller not started

Search Host Controler

The SharePoint Search returns error message “Sorry, something went wrong”. Or for Administrator:”Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may because the admin component is not up and running”. Often this might be caused by a Search Host Controller Service which is not started.

Check the Search Host Controller

The enduser might see this one:

Search Host Controler

The administrator might see this:

Search Host Controler

One reason might be that the Search Host Controller Service is not started. Therefore try to start the Search Host Controller Service in the Services Section:

Search Host Controler

Now check if your SharePoint Search runs again.
