Before you migrate
If you are planning to migrate to Office 365, you should consider to use the SharePoint Migration Assessment Tool (SMAT), which analyses your SharePoint 2013 Farm in order to find things which might cause problems. You should also have a look at the authentication in both directions (Source und Target) and what happens with permissions and user mappings if the user is not available in your target system. And don’t forget the technical prequerisites described here.

In the message center you’ll might notice this:
The SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) will soon let users migrate to Microsoft Teams in addition to SharePoint and OneDrive. Users will be able to select a team that they own and then define the channel they want to use as the destination.
